Gte down to enjoy a sea breeze nd wave drizzles!!! A nice walk along the walls of the fort will take you to the entrance. Opposite to the eatery, you've a way down to the rocky beach. A small eatery will serve you all sorts of local pickles and some refreshments. The fort seems to be constructed from the sea, as most of it's walls are stroked by sea waves. This is a remarkable feature which you find here. You can have a view of what soldiers at the post viewed hundreds of years ago!! The holes on top are for aiming to the farthest and those at the lower part for aiming to nearest targets. The gun mounts and watch post holes have been preserved well and reconstructed. You walk to the opposite side of the fort entrance, and ahoy there you are over viewing the Sea and Bekal Beach. There's a large water tank and a nice observation point with flight of stairs to go up to it. Several underground passages can be seen, all filled by landslides. Lush green gardens with lots of flowers adore the place, which once had been filled with tents of soldiers. Welcome to the largest fort in Kerala.The fort has been well reconstructed at the same time preserving the old touch of it. A Tablet tells you the history of fort in short which is written in Kannada, Malayalam and English. DO NOT PARK UNDER COCONUT TREES, you may find your winshield shattered and a coconut inside your car!!! You walk to the fort where at the entrance, there's a small shed belonging to ASI, where you've to pay for the further sights and camera clicks.fee for Indians Rs 5/-, for foreigners Rs 100. There is a nice car park in the front of Fort, with nominal Parking fees. It's well directed by signboards, hence you won't miss your way. I was driving down from Mumbai to Kochi, took a half an hour detour from highway at Kasaragod junction. But thought of writing a review after the last visit which was in September 12.
